WHAT TYPE OF INSTALLATION IS THE MOST ADEQUATE FOR MY COMPANY?
There are 3 types of solar installations for companies:
1. – SELF-CONSUMPTION
With a solar installation in self-consumption model, your company will have one with a photovoltaic installation and will be connected to the electricity grid, both sources are always connected with your company avoiding any interruption in supply. Solar energy will serve to reduce the electric bill since during the day your company will primarily consume its own self-generated solar energy and in case the demand is higher it will be able to connect to the electricity grid. When the photovoltaic installation produces more energy than is consumed in the company, this energy is lost. According to the Royal Decree Solar this model is subject to the toll of backup which reduces the savings and increases the amortization periods.
2. – ISOLATED / HYBRID
An isolated solar installation is one that is disconnected from the electrical grid, the solar installation would be the only source of energy for your business during the day. Therefore it is necessary to have enough solar power installed to supply all the energy you need, being highly recommended to have batteries to ensure the power supply (there is the possibility of connecting to the grid only at night). In this model the Royal Decree will not affect your business as long as your solar installation is properly implemented and legalized. It is an interesting model for companies that focus their activity during the day and enjoy many hours of sun a year in the area / s in which it is located.
3. – POOL OF COMPANIES
In this modality several companies, for example of an industrial estate, a building or a commercial center, come together to create a photovoltaic power station that will provide electricity to all participating companies. This gives savings in the initial investment that is lower than if each company builds an independent installation. Another important advantage is that they can sell the surplus energy in the electricity-free market. Royal Decree requires compliance with a series of conditions, such as requesting a point of connection to the electricity company, deposit a guarantee, have a works permit, and registration in the pre-allocation register. These procedures are excessively cumbersome and costly for a low-power installation, but they are worth it for large installations.
